December 2019: Maintaining an Attitude of Gratitude
Gratitude lifts our eyes off the things we lack so we might see the blessings we possess. – Max Lucado
Last week Ephraim turned to us and said, “Man you’re rich.” I laughed. I asked him what he meant? He went on to explain that we have iPads, phones and computers. Kris began to explain that almost every electronic device we have was given to us. It was more about God’s blessing in our lives, than riches. It changed his perspective and reminded us of how God’s been with us, meeting our needs.
This past weekend we celebrated the 2nd anniversary of our church. It hasn’t moved as we anticipated. We expected to be in a building now, have a nursery school going and so much more. But as we gathered and worshipped together we were so grateful for the people He’s brought into our lives. They have become family.
I got a message from one of the girls in our church following our service. It said, “You’re so good at hosting, welcoming people, and facilitating a space where people can come, let down their guard, and just have fun. I really feel like you guys are family. Hanging out with you guys has been very healing for me...thanks for everything.” Messages like this makes us grateful for the calling on our lives. It helps to remind us that (although it isn’t happening the way we expected) we are making a difference.
We had 54 people in church Sunday. A packed house (literally). We had an amazing Thanksgiving meal and reminded ourselves that God is doing something supernatural in Mae Sai. Although we don’t know what the future holds, we know God is good, He’s faithful. We know He wants a powerful, passionate church more than we do. So we wait, and we remember His goodness.
As we head into the holiday season, life can get bogged down by shopping, wrapping, baking, meeting family and friends and much more. It can be easy to get overwhelmed, see what you don’t have, or what you need. I encourage you to take a step back and see how God has been there for you. Breathe. He’s faithful.
Have a beautiful holiday season with your family and friends. We love you.
Merry Christmas! Much love from us in Thailand.
Love, Kris, Tab and Ephraim
