October 2019: India, Thailand Summit and VABC
It is not enough to be busy. So are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about?
~ Henry David Thoreau
These past couple of months have been busy (that’s an understatement)! Last month was so much so, that we didn’t even get an update out. So I made time to let you know what’s been going on.
In the busyness of life, it’s important to stay focused. We don’t just want to be busy because we can be. We want to be productive. We want to be making a change in our life, and the lives of those around us. We realize this is just a season. But there are always seasons coming and going. So keeping our priorities in focus is a big help.
As the church grows, and we begin to add things into our ministry, we want to keep first things, first. Staying connected with you, is part of that.
Since we last wrote….
Kris went to India. He kicked off their school year teaching on communication and preaching. As a nation that he’s extremely passionate about, it was a time of refreshing for him. The students are like sponges, absorbing everything they can. Although he was supposed to teach just during the morning, he would get caught up teaching in the afternoons as well. It was a very fruitful time. I will be heading to India to teach at the end of October. Please keep me in your prayers.
We hosted Summit (our annual leadership conference) for our first time in Mae Sai. Our team did an amazing job hosting and welcoming everyone. It was like a family reunion as everyone came up north. I feel like something was awakened in us as we hosted the conference. It’s time to believe for supernatural growth and advancement. Although we feel like our vision is big, God wants to do even more than we can think or imagine. As we were prayed for, I could sense that it’s time for something greater. (You can find a link for video on our website of highlights to this weekend www.victorymaesai.com).
Following conference we fasted as a church for our building. We had the opportunity to meet with the landlord and although she was willing to drop the price, she was requesting 2 years of rent up front. As we prayed, we felt that we needed to step away from that building for now. We are believing for her to change her conditions on rental, or for another, better building, to surface. Please keep us in your prayers. We need a building to keep moving forward, but the time for this one isn’t now. We know greater things are ahead, but where it all happens we have no idea.
A full house…. After Summit the VABC students came and spent the first two weeks of school with us. This year they will be spending time at the different churches in Thailand getting to know the leaders and helping in their churches. Kris taught their first bible school class in the mornings and they did ministry in the afternoons. We were so blessed to have them come. They were able to help out many people in the church. From handing out flyers, to painting homes, cleaning a chicken farm and doing outreach, it was a fantastic time and blessed our church community immensely.
We are surrounded by amazing people. God continues to remind us that we are not alone. We are so thankful for you, and for everyone who takes time to pray and give to what we’re doing here. God continues to expand our influence. People continue to talk about what we’re doing. Greater things are coming.
With that said, please continue to pray for us. We need wisdom as to what our next steps are. We have so much vision for the future, but much of it is hindered because we need a building to start a foundation. Without a foundation, we can’t start. So we pray.
As well, pray for Kris. Right now he’s in Pakistan with Dr. Al Purvis doing their leadership Summit. Pray for protection, timely words to speak and health. This picture is from their meeting last night in the village. It was a packed out event. Their time there is full of visiting, preaching, praying and ministry. Believing for a fruitful time.
We love you. If you have a prayer request, please let us know. Stay in touch.
