May 2019: Victory Mae Sai in Hong Kong, Beaches, Graduation & More
One of the things I feel like we sacrifice on living in Thailand, is our family. We meet so many great people. Often those people become family, but they never replace our immediate family.
The last time my parents came to visit was 4 years ago. They have never visited the northern part of Thailand and we were excited to show them all the beauty here. Sadly when they landed our pollution levels were too high to enjoy the outdoors. I did manage to get them both on an elephant. Mom took Ephraim as her support team and dad went alone. Mom’s immediate response after the ride was, “well that was a once in a lifetime experience.” Guess she won’t be doing that again :)
Spring break hit and we made our way to Hong Kong. Kris and I have never gone to Hong Kong before. We thought it would be a fun adventure to take mom and dad to. Each time they come we try to have them experience another country.
Hong Kong is quite the place. People are in a rush all the time. Slow down people! We decided to check out Disney there. When I grew up Disney was one of my favourite places and I wanted to take Ephraim there to experience it. It was great fun! Much smaller than Florida, but full of memory making excitement. From ‘It’s a Small World’ to ‘Toy Story Land’, Disney was packed with great family adventures. I think the highlight was The Lion King Show (but I doubt Ephraim would agree with me).
We were able to spend some time with our friend Suzzie as she hosted us while we stayed in Hong Kong. Suzzie lives on an island off Hong Kong island. So it was quite an experience taking ferries and making our way around this little island that didn’t allow vehicles. It was beautiful and rustic, a jungle.
From Hong Kong we went back to Thailand and attended VABC graduation. It was great to celebrate with the students as many of them completed their 4 year BA. We took a trip to the island for ocean fun and then had to head home to the north.
It was great having my parents visit. They were able to meet our church group, teach the ladies how to make perogies and spend some quality time with Ephraim. Loved having them visit. April flew by!
Things continue to remain busy. It’s a different busy though. We love what we’re doing and find it so fun to be planting this church and working with the people we have. This past weekend we hosted 90 people in our house with church and a BBQ the next day. So much fun!
Prayer requests:
Health - please pray for us to walk in health. Kris has hurt his knee. We think it’s a strain, but it’s painful. Believing for complete healing.
Finances - believing for all the money to come in for our trip home. We plan to be in Canada from June 4th - July 25th.
The church - as we plan to head home, please be praying for the church while we’re gone. Pray for us as we organize things for our time away. Pray for protection over our people.
A vehicle for Canada - looking for a vehicle while we’re home. Please pray we find one.
Thanks for all your prayers and support. You are loved. Hope to connect with you when we’re in Canada.
Much love,
Kris, Tab and Ephraim
